A report to the sharon church

At right is Barbara Thomas the Director of Neighbor Services of Charlotte, NC. Barbara is one of several directors who oversee many aspects of Urban Ministries beginning with the daily Soup Kitchen open from 11:15 to 12:15 every day of the year that involves 300 volunteers each month.

The Soup Kitchen serves as the entry point to the continuum of services available through Urban Ministry Center and Homeless Services Network.

Director Barbara Thomas spoke to our Sharon Church congregation on March 11, 2017 outlining the ways individuals in the community could help the homeless and less fortunate in Charlotte.

Our Sharon Church is very committed to helping our community and meeting its needs. We operate Room at the Inn to house and feed the homeless neighbors each Friday night from the first o December through the end of March. The third Sabbath of each month our members volunteer sandwich fixings and make 500-600 sandwiches that are delivered to Urban ministries for distribution to the homeless. We host Angel Tree for the children of incarcerated parents. We also have a nursing home ministry as well as many service-oriented outings each year by our Pathfinders and their sponsors.

We praise God for the wonderful work of Charlotte Urban Ministries and their willingness to partner with fellow Christians in serving God through serving others. May God continue to bless them and all who serve as God’s eyes, ears, hands and feet on this earth, till He comes.
